The presidential office says that the leaders of South and North Korea may hold their first telephone conversation through the recently established hotline as early as this week. 

A senior presidential official told Yonhap News on Thursday that the first hotline dialogue may take place this week, but not on Thursday. 

Another official told reporters that if U.S. President Donald Trump announces the schedule of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un within a few days and the two Korean leaders hold their first hotline talks soon after, the planned summit may come up in their conversation. 

The official said the two leaders will not just hold phone conversations without an occasion, hinting that they may discuss the Washington-Pyongyang summit through the hotline dialogue.
