The head of the World Food Program(WFP) is visiting North Korea from Tuesday. 

The UN agency says WFP Executive Director David Beasley will meet with high-ranking North Korean officials during his four-day visit and observe nutrition activities supported by the World Food Program in nurseries and kindergartens. 

It's Beasley's first trip to the North since he took office in April of last year. 

The WFP said the trip is part of Beasley’s tour of Northeast Asia, adding he will also visit South Korea, China and Japan. 

During his visit to South Korea in November, Beasley met with Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon and discussed humanitarian assistance for North Korea.
