Bolton: US Wants Deal Similar to 1992 Denuclearization Declaration

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton says that the U.S.’ abandonment of the Iran nuclear deal sends a very clear signal to North Korea that Washington will not accept inadequate agreements.
Bolton made the comment on Tuesday during a news briefing after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the U.S. will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.
Bolton said that Trump's decision to withdraw from the deal will affect Iran as well as his upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, stressing that the message to North Korea is President Trump wants a real deal.
Bolton said that the U.S. is asking for the elimination of both the front and back end of the nuclear fuel cycle and abandonment of uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing programs as North Korea agreed in the 1992 joint inter-Korean denuclearization declaration.
He said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be discussing these issues when he arrives in North Korea for further preparations for the planned summit between Trump and Kim.
