Top Office: Pompeo's N. Korea Trip Likely to Focus on Summit Preparations

The presidential office says it believes that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to North Korea will focus on preparations for the upcoming Washington-Pyongyang summit.
A senior presidential official told reporters on Wednesday that Pompeo is likely to exchange views with North Korean officials on the date and venue for the upcoming summit.
The official said Washington and Pyongyang are expected to unveil the date after Pompeo returns home. The official did not comment when asked if the two countries are also likely to disclose the summit agenda when they unveil the date.
The official said that the issue of three Americans detained in the North is also expected to be discussed during Pompeo’s stay. However, the official said it is unlikely that Pompeo will head back home with the detainees via the truce village of Panmunjeom.
