Report: President Moon Jae-in, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang issued a special statement supporting the Panmunjeom Declaration at Wednesday’s trilateral summit in Tokyo.

In the statement, the leaders welcomed the declaration reached during the April 27th inter-Korean summit for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of permanent peace in the region.

The leaders vowed to continue joint efforts to ensure the inter-Korean summit will contribute to peace and stability in Northeast Asia, and expressed hope for a successful summit between North Korea and the U.S.

The presidential office said Moon told the two Asian leaders that he had personally confirmed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s goal of realizing complete denuclearization through the inter-Korean summit.

He said the North's offer to shut down its Punggye-ri nuclear test site and disclose the process to the world shows its determination to succeed in the North-U.S. summit.

The three leaders also agreed to work together to increase the number of personnel exchanges among the three nations to 30 million by 2020 and to hold trilateral summits regularly. The summits are supposed to be held annually, but Wednesday's marked the first one since 2015.

Meanwhile, in a joint business summit following the trilateral summit, President Moon called to conclude negotiations for regional free trade pacts involving the three countries to help ensure peace and prosperity in the region and tackle trade protectionism.
