President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday held a phone conversation after North Korea released three American detainees. 

The presidential office said that Moon and Trump held talks on the phone for 25 minutes from 11:20 p.m. 

During the phone conversation, Trump said that the release will have a positive effect on his planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and expressed gratitude for Moon's support and help with the release. 

Trump also said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a very productive discussion with Kim during his recent trip to Pyongyang. 

In response, President Moon congratulated and gave credit to Trump for the release, saying his leadership and decisions brought it about.
