A group of South Korean officials and civilians are visiting the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea on Tuesday to prepare for the establishment of a joint inter-Korean communication office.

The 17-member group, including Unification Ministry officials and Hyundai Asan employees,  crossed the border to visit the complex via the inter-Korean transit office of the Gyeongeui Line around 10 a.m.

The delegation will prepare for renovations to key offices and workers' lodgings within the park and return the same day. It plans to visit again for another one-day visit on Wednesday. 

During a previous visit on June eighth, South Korean officials found that some facilities had been flooded and needed repair. 

The establishment of a joint liaison office had been agreed upon during the April 27th inter-Korean summit. The two Koreas agreed in a high-level officials' meeting on June first to open the liaison office within the industrial complex.
