FM: Brief Inter-Korean Summit Possible Before Fall

Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha says President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could meet again before fall.
During a media conference held Wednesday at the foreign correspondents’ club in Seoul, Kang said the Panmumjom Declaration stipulates another inter-Korean summit will be held this fall, however, the two leaders may sit down again before then.
Following their first historic summit on April 27th, Moon and Kim met a month later without noticing the public in advance.
Asked about a possible official declaration to end the Korean War, the minister pointed out that U.S. President Donald Trump and Kim discussed the matter during their summit in Singapore, emphasizing it is on the table for the three countries.
She also said the decision by the South Korea-U.S. alliance to suspend their joint military exercises is a goodwill gesture to strengthen the momentum of dialogue with the North. Kang, however, was quick to add that they will resume swiftly unless the regime keeps denuclearization promises.
