Two Koreas to Discuss Separated Family Reunions on Fri.

South and North Korea will hold Red Cross talks on Friday to discuss preparations for a reunion of separated families in August.
South Korea’s delegation is set to spend a night in Goseong, Gangwon Province on Thursday before crossing the border on Friday to head to the venue of the talks in Mount Geumgang.
Preparations to hold family reunions on Independence Day on August 15th will top the agenda. An agreement to hold such a gathering was included in the Panmumjeom Declaration adopted during the inter-Korean summit held in April.
The reunions, if held, would be the first to take place in three years.
In a bid to fundamentally address issues related to separated families, the South’s delegation is expected to propose that the two Koreas confirm the whereabouts of separated family members, allow them to exchange letters and make visits to their hometowns.
