Red Cross Talks Under Way between Two Koreas

Red Cross talks between the two Koreas are under way at North Korea's Mount Geumgang to discuss holding a reunion of families separated by the Korean War.
In an opening statement, the North’s chief delegate, Pak Yong-il, the vice chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country, said that if the talks are held with a sincere mind, the Korean people will come to enjoy happiness.
Korean Red Cross President Park Kyung-seo, who is the chief representative for South Korea, said the two sides should ease the pain of separated Koreans through the talks.
The two delegations are coordinating views on a specific time and scale of the reunion, in accordance with an agreement made during inter-Korean summit talks to hold the event around Independence Day on August 15th.
If held, the reunion would be the first in three years.
