Two Koreas to Hold Series of Talks This Week

South and North Korea are holding a series of talks this week to follow up on the agreement reached in the April 27th inter-Korean summit.

The two Koreas are set to hold working-level military talks on Monday to fully reconnect the East Sea and Yellow Sea district military communication lines.

The meeting will open at the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) office in Paju, just south of the inter-Korean border, at 10 a.m. to follow up on an agreement at their general-grade negotiations last week.

South Korea will send a delegation led by Army Colonel Cho Yong-geun for talks with a North Korean group led by Colonel Om Chang-nam.

The two sides, which held Red Cross and sports talks last week, are working to hold talks this week on forestry cooperation and discuss ways to connect and modernize the now-defunct railways, including the Gyeongui Line and the East Coast Line.

In addition, construction and repair works for building a joint liaison office at the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex will begin as early as this week.

Also, a South Korean delegation will visit Mount Geungang in North Korea to check and repair the facilities of the venue for inter-Korean family reunions set for August 20th to 26th.
