N. Korean Leader Unlikely to Watch Thursday's Inter-Korean Basketball Matches

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is unlikely to watch inter-Korean basketball matches scheduled for Thursday in Pyongyang as he is currently visiting rural areas for inspection.

Kim Yong-chol, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the North Korean Workers' Party, made the revelation during a brief meeting with South Korea's Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon in Pyongyang.

Kim said that the North Korean leader watched Wednesday’s games on TV, adding that he was sent to meet Cho on the leader’s recommendation.

On Wednesday, players formed teams named “peace” and prosperity” made up of a mixture of South and North Koreans to play two matches. Two more friendly games are set to be played Thursday.
