Vice Unification Minister: Inter-Korean Ties to Develop on Par with N. Korea's Denuclearization

South Korea's vice unification minister says Seoul will try to advance inter-Korean relations in step with progress made in negotiations on North Korea’s denuclearization.

Chun Hae-sung made the comments during a meeting in Seoul on Thursday, adding every development between the two Koreas will be pursued under the framework of international sanctions and in close consultation with other countries.

Chun also remarked on the recent inter-Korean engagement, including ongoing efforts to set up a joint liaison office in Gaeseong. He said preparations for the reunion of the war-separated families to be held at North Korea's Mount Geumgang in August will begin next week.

Noting that inter-Korean relations and the Moon administration's North Korea policies are drawing a lot of attention from the South Korean people, the vice minister said the government will pursue inter-Korean relations based on public consensus and agreement.
