U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his confidence in North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's commitment to denuclearization.

Speaking on board Air Force One bound for an event in Montana Thursday, Trump said he believes Kim truly envisions a different future for his country.

Adding he hopes this is true, Trump said if not, Washington will have to return to take the opposite path of severed ties and hostilities.

When asked about Pyongyang's suspected attempts to conceal its missile and nuclear programs, Trump replied, "we'll see," pointing out that the North recently hasn't launched any missiles or rockets. 

The U.S. president's remarks came as his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is set to meet with North Korean officials, including leader Kim Jong-un, to flesh out an agreement on Pyongyang's denuclearization.
