Foreign Minister: Summit Between Two Koreas, US Could Happen at UN General Assembly

South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha says she cannot rule out the possibility of a trilateral summit between the two Koreas and the U.S. at the UN General Assembly in September.
The minister made the remarks to reporters on Wednesday during her trip to Britain for strategic talks with her British counterpart Jeremy Hunt and a meeting with chiefs of Korean legations in Europe.
Kang said that in the past, it took months to prepare an inter-Korean summit, but now the landscape has changed.
She added that it is hard to speculate about any possible communications between the leaders of the two Koreas before President Moon Jae-in's planned visit to Pyongyang for a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year.
Regarding the possibility of declaring an end to the Korean War at the UN General Assembly, the minister said that Moon and Kim agreed during their April summit to seek such a declaration within this year.
Kang said that the government will make diplomatic efforts to achieve the goal, but she cannot specify when the declaration will come.
