KCTV: Heavy Rain Pounding Northern Regions in N. Korea

Parts of northern North Korea are reportedly reeling from heavy rain.

The North’s Korean Central Television reported on Wednesday nearly 400 millimeters of precipitation in Hwadae County in North Hamgyong Province in one day alone.

While Hwadae received 395 millimeters, other seaside regions in the province, including Myongchon County and Kyongsong, also reported over 100 millimeters of rain on Wednesday.

The broadcaster said heavy rain was forecast to continue pummeling the regions until Saturday.

North Korea saw a daily average of 113 millimeters of rain in South Hamgyong Province on August 1 and 2, prompting around five-thousand residents to be evacuated while over one-thousand-150 houses were flooded and 17-thousand meters of road were destroyed.
