First-generation idol star Kang Ta (real name Ahn Chil-hyun) of H.O.T. has completed his military duty and was discharged on Friday. Despite the freezing cold and snow, some 300 of his fans gathered in front of the army base to greet him back to the civilian life. Upon seeing his fans and family members, Kang Ta smiled sheepishly, but eagerly answered all the questions from the media. He even sang a Christmas carol in return for the congratulatory cake from his fans.

Kang Ta plans to hold a fan meeting in Seoul on Saturday. The event will feature a video presentation of his days in the military and other special programs. Starting with this fan event in Seoul, he will hold similar events in Beijing and Tokyo to return the support his overseas fans have shown during the past two years.
