Ways to Wear Florals in Winter
Winter is here and it’s time for a wardrobe change! Among the hottest fashion trends of the season, the florals are back in a big way—and to keep you looking chic and on-trend throughout the colder months ahead, today I’m going to introduce tips on how to incorporate florals into your cold weather wardrobe.

We all know that florals are the perfect choice for spring, but as proven on the
runways for Fall/Winter 2015, there are plenty of ways to rock florals during the winter season. Though seemingly awkward to try, with a few styling tips and tricks, anyone can wear the trend with style.

When wearing florals in winter, the first trick is to choose the right fabric so you won’t look too spring-y. Soft florals in airy, lightweight fabrics such as chiffon, silk, tulle, and cotton may be fine for the humid months but they just won’t cut it during the chilly season. When rocking florals in the wintertime, be sure to choose wintery fabrics such as heavy woolens, rich satin, luxurious suede, plush velvet or silky cashmere. For the office, ditch your everyday black wool skirt for a velvet winter floral skirt and instantly jazz up your otherwise plain work outfit. You can also opt for a floral inspired winter coat featuring oversized flowers and make a fashion statement.

Choose your favorite style of florals—everything from subtle dainty blooms to loud tropical prints. As for colors, do opt for florals rendered against rich hues such as regal teal, royal purple, rich burgundies, earthy browns, and more so you can look seasonally appropriate. As per stylists, the safe bet is to choose florals featured in an analogous palette, featuring mostly similar colors of florals with just a few and subtle emphasis. For an evening out, opt for a mini floral-inspired dress featuring lovely floral prints made with a traditional cold-weather fabric such as wool or suede and instantly add a bit of an edge to your outfit. For extra warmth, throw on a faux fur stole over the dress, top off the look with a pair of booties—and you have a super chic outfit.

When rocking florals, don’t forget to layer up. The easiest way to winterize your rose and daffodil prints is to mix and match with winter staples such as turtleneck sweaters, opaque tights, chunky wool cardigans, corduroy jackets, velvet blazers, warm stoles, capes, and more. For instance, when rocking a mini floral dress, don’t forget to wear it with opaque black tights and layer a black turtleneck underneath. Top off the look by adding a faux fur stole for extra warmth and style and you are sure to make heads turn!

Add florals into your winter wardrobe now and stay stylish!
