Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to wear Rose Quartz and Serenity—a pair of baby-hued pastels chosen as the Pantone Colors of the Year.

Pantone, a world-renowned authority on color, has announced its 2016 colors of the year. Departing from the tradition of choosing one color that they believe will be dominating in the New Year, the color authority for the first time has picked two different shades—the delicate pink Rose Quartz and soft blue Serenity—to share the title of “Color of the Year” for 2016. Pantone describes the colors as the following:
“Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”

What’s interesting about Pantone’s sections for 2016 is that the two colors chosen can stand incredibly on their own and also make a great pair for each other. As aptly described, the two lovely pastels—especially when harmoniously blended together—evoke a magical, sunset/twilight imagery reminding us of certain images such as a gorgeous silky sunset, calming blue waters, sun-kissed skin, and more.

To wear the two Pantone colors, start with your daily wardrobe staples—including everything from blazers, sweaters, pencil skirts, dresses to pants and even shoes and bags. For the office, build your outfit around a rose colored blazer and instantly update your look. Pair the lovely pastel pink blazer with any neutral colored top and pencil skirt combo and complete the look with a pair of nude heels. To add a playful twist to your everyday office look, mix and match lots of light pinks and soft blues—such as a light blue knit top teamed with a pair of high-waisted soft rose colored pants. For a night out on the town, opt for something trendy such as a rose colored faux fur stole thrown over a silky, light-blue dress and finish off with a pair of booties.

In addition, experiment with a variety of rose and blue colored accessories including satchel bags, velvet clutches, bracelets, earrings, fur key chains, and more and take your look from boring to brilliant. Last but not least, don’t forget to play with makeup! Lightly placed blue eyeshadow, pink blushed cheeks, rose colored pale lips, and pastel nails can all do the trick!
