Oversized Winter Outerwear
Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to incorporate oversized outerwear into your winter wardrobe.

Among other winter staples, oversized outerwear is gaining serious momentum both on the runways and on the streets. Continuing from the last season, oversized anything is still totally “in” at the moment, with designers and street fashionistas alike enthusiastically embracing winter outerwear options that are not limited to fitted styles. A variety of outerwear options—including everything from peacoats, extra long wool coats to capes and bomber jackets (which are generally short type of jacket with two front pockets, a zippered front, and finishing at the waist with an elasticized band)—are all getting the oversized treatment, giving us an excuse to wear the trend.

There is no winter without cozy outwear. When it comes to outerwear trends this season, think “bigger is better” and instantly give your style an update. When choosing coats and jackets, the trick is to choose those one or two sizes bigger than your usual size. To rock the look with style, start with your daily office wear. Switch up your everyday fitted double-breasted coat for an extra-large, oversized peacoat and show off your fashion sense. A cream colored oversized peacoat teamed up with something as plain and chic as a black turtleneck and trousers combo is a perfect outfit choice for any winter day. Also play with coats in soft pastels—such as Rose Quartz (delicate pink) and Serenity (soft blue)—the two colors of the year designated by the global color authority Pantone. An oversized soft pink coat is all you need to spice up an otherwise plain work outfit.

In addition, classic, long wool coats are a great addition to your winter wardrobe. When we say “long,” designers mean way past midi, referring to coat styles that come down to the calves and ankles. There is something extremely chic about an oversized, massive endless coat paired with rugged jeans and plain tees. When rocking the look for the office, long coats look best in light neutral colors—such as greys, soft beiges, and camels. Opt for a bit oversized, but not slouchy styles so you won’t look overdone. To give your shape a bit of a definition, add a thin belt that you can effortlessly cinch at the waist.

Embrace your inner fashionista now and pick up oversized toppers appropriate for casual outings. Everything from oversized bombers to brightly colored tribe print cover-ups and huge capes are definitely trending at the moment. To give your style a boost, switch up a fitted blazer for a cropped, boxy, loose-fitting bomber jacket and wear it teamed up with tight-fitting black skinnies to balance out the look.

Pick up an oversized topper now and stay chic!
