Print Blocking for Spring 2016
Spring is in full force and it’s time to up your style quotient! One hot trend topping the fashion trend charts this season is the print blocking look and to keep you looking chic and trendy, today I’m going to introduce tips on how to rock the print-on-print fashion.

Print-on-print fashion is back for Spring 2016. Color blocking—the idea of wearing solid blocks of contrasting but complementary colors in one outfit—has graduated to bring us the most beautiful trend of the season: print blocking. The concept is pretty much the same as color blocking—all you are doing now is clashing prints instead of mixing and matching solid colors. As challenging as it is intriguing, this seemingly difficult trend is definitely one of the hottest looks for Spring 2016.

Condemned as “uncool” once, the print-on-print fashion—everything from polka dots on stripes, animal prints on stripes to florals on florals were seen all over the runways for Spring 2016. The key to wearing the trend without looking like a five year old who just grabbed anything to wear is to make sure that you find the prints that have something that unites them—either by color or design. For instance, to rock the trend without looking overdone, work with prints that complement each other and make sure that the colors are similar. According to stylists, one easy way to get started is to pick the same prints but in different sizes—for instance small polkas on the top and big polkas on the bottom. You can also vary the orientations—horizontal stripes on the top mixed and matched with vertical stripes on the bottom.

For casual outings, opt for a floral print maxi skirt teamed up with a floral print top in the similar color as the skirt. You can also play with a variety of other print-on-print outfit choices—such as a horizontal striped button down paired with a geo-print skirt, a vertical striped knit top teamed with a voluminous horizontal balloon skirt, a polka dot button down paired with a striped pencil skirt and more. For the office, if you are shy about going all out, you can play with more subtle and intricate variations of prints. Ditch your everyday black blazer and opt for floral print blazer—and instantly take your look from plain to chic. Team up the top with a geo-print pencil skirt—keeping fabrics in the same color family. When rocking print-on-print fashion, do remember to keep the rest of your outfit simple and top off the look with a pair of wedges and a tote bag.

Block prints now and take your style up a notch!
