●Trend #1: Matte Bright Lips
First up, matte bright lips are super on trend this summer. According to the runways, bright lip colors have made a huge comeback and are available in a wide range of shades that will complement all skin tones. In particular, we are seeing lots of plums, corals, reds, and pinks. One major difference from last season’s lip makeup trends is that lipsticks trending at the moment have a somewhat matte texture—making the color last longer. To update your look, opt for super duper mattes that are totally next-level. For the office, switch out your everyday pink lip gloss for something a bit more bold—a super matte crimson lipstick that dries into a velvety texture—and instantly take your look from plain to fabulous.

●Trend #2: Nude/Beige Lips
Next, nude lips have been around for a few seasons and are definitely here to stay this summer. The summer 2016 catwalks were filled with different takes on classic nudes and beige lipstick shades which are definitely worth trying. In terms of the texture, matte nude lips are trending at the moment—so ditch those high-shine glosses now and choose lipsticks with a matte effect. One common mistake we make when choosing beige lipsticks is that we tend to pick a shade that’s too light. To choose the best hue that won’t wash you out, makeup artists say it’s best to go no more than two shades lighter than the color of your inside lower lip. If you are fair, opt for soft pink-based beiges and for darker skin, bronzes and peach-toned beiges will be your best bet.

From the red carpet to Instagram feeds, bold lip colors are everywhere. Among the many hues, super pigmented reds and bold pinks are popular at the moment. Pinks and reds come in so many different shades—so choose your favorite hue that best complements your skin tone. Remember, the important thing to be said about the summer 2016 lip makeup trends is that the textures must be rather matte—but if you are not into a matte finish, you can always try adding a swipe of clear gloss or a sheen lipstick over the matte lippies.
