Summer Vacation Styling Tips

2016-08-09

The summer vacation season is well underway and for many of us that means hitting the road. Today I’m going to introduce the top three summer vacation styling tips so you can look your best during the holidays.

Styling Tip #1: Always think comfort
When choosing outfits to wear during your vacation, always think comfort—right from the moment you fly. There’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable while on vacation—so keep the outfits simple, smart, and easy to wear. Opt for low-maintenance fabrics like cotton, linen, lycra, and spandex and be sure to pack simple plain T-shirts and tank tops which pair well with a variety of bottoms like breezy maxi skirts, capris, shorts, ripped jeans, and more. In addition, lightweight cardigans and sweatshirts will be your best friend. Whether you are lounging by the pool, at the beach, or in a hammock, cover-ups are a must-have for any resort getaway. Choose comfy and yet stylish cover-ups—everything from beaded tunics to hoodies, lightweight cardigans, wraps, towel shorts, and tube-top dresses can all do the trick.

Styling Tip #2: Pack at least one statement piece
Always pack at least one hero, look-at-me statement piece. Remember, vacation is the perfect time to try out something new. You won’t have to worry about running into someone you know—so nobody is judging! Feel free to wear something fun and totally over the top—like a bold patterned maxi dress, vivid, colorful tops and bottoms, neon colored summer shoes, cut-out swimsuits, and more. For a special outing, opt for a tight-fitting red and navy patterned midi skirt and wear it teamed up with a black crop top. Top off the look with a pair of wedge heels and a bold necklace and you have a chic outfit.

Styling Tip #3: Accessorize!
To get the perfect vacation look, don’t forget to accessorize! Statement accessories such as bold necklaces, cocktail rings, bracelets, and chunky hoop earrings can instantly make an all-black outfit more interesting. For a lazy stroll along the beach, go for the classy look and opt for a breezy maxi sundress in neutrals such as white, black, beige or grey. Pair the dress with a wide-brimmed straw hat and a pair of strappy wedges and add bold earrings and layered bracelets to the mix and instantly take your look from plain to polished!

Play with these tips and create a chic vacation wardrobe!
