Tips on How to Wear the Red Lipstick
Fall is here and it’s time to welcome rich lip colors into your makeup repertoire. Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to wear the red lipstick—a must-try look come the cooler season.

●Find the perfect shade of red lipstick
Various shades of dark lips are back in a big way. To revamp your look in time for the new season ahead, swap your favorite barely-there pink lipsticks you’ve been hanging on to all summer for a rich burgundy red lipstick. The darker shades of red including wine-red and deep burgundy were seen all over the Fall/Winter 2016 catwalks and it’s officially time to try the look! Super bright red lips can be intimidating for some and may take some time getting used to, but vivid lip colors are the quickest way to a classy and sassy look. The first step to getting the look is to find the perfect shade of red lipstick that matches your skin tone. If you are cool-toned (which means that you have more pink undertones), opt for cool-toned reds which have more of a blue/pink undertone. If you are warm-toned, which means that you have more yellow
undertones, warm-toned reds that have a yellow/orangey base to them can be more
flattering. Richer, deeper shades of red are more easily worn than bright reds on most people. Put another way, fair complexions look best with cranberry hues, wine-colored reds and cherry reds, whereas darker complexions are enhanced by true, fierce reds. Medium complexions can opt for coral and orange reds.

●Go for matte finishes
This season, matte lips are extremely hot! To update your everyday look, opt for matte formulas, as glossy or balms are more prone to smudging. When using a matte formula, don’t forget to prep your lips with a moisturizing lip balm beforehand to
prevent drying. Apply the matte lipstick using a lip brush to give precision and make the color last longer. To help set the makeup further, use a lip liner that matches the color of the lipstick and trace around the edges to give your lips definition.

●Concentrate on creating a flawless canvas
Glowing skin is always in style. When opting for red lips, focus on creating a flawless canvas and make your lip makeup stand out. During the cooler season, it’s best to switch out lightweight tinted moisturizers/BB creams for a rich, creamy foundation that gives the skin good coverage. Don’t forget to use a cream concealer to hide under-eye dark circles and any imperfections. In addition, use a cream highlighter to accent the cheekbones and give your skin a glow. Finally, to achieve a bit of a matte finish, don’t forget to apply translucent powder all over your face lightly so you can help set the makeup.

●Keep the rest of the makeup simple
When going for darker lips, make sure that you underplay the rest of the makeup,
especially the eyes. Remember, bold lips speak for themselves so think soft eyes when going for a bold lip look. Shimmery ivory or light gold eyeshadow, teamed with subtle liquid eyeliner and a few strokes of mascara will do the trick!

Rock the red lip and stay stylish!
