Kim Hyuk Rae

2006-08-11

A total of one hundred secondary school teachers from the states attended a two week informative workshop on Korean studies. With the Korea Foundation as sponsor, and the efforts of Kim Hyuk Rae, Professor of Korean studies at the graduate school of international studies and director for the Center for Modern Korean Studies on Yonsei Campus, the workshops provided educators with a better knowledge of Korean history, culture and industrial achievements which they could then pass onto their students.

"There is more to Korea than the Korean War" as educators Mary Rech Rockwell and Ayodele Okeowo can attest to from their experience in Korea. The workshops gave them a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Korea. As first time visitors to Korea, the dynamic nature of the city and people, as well as the rapid economic prosperity of the country impressed them the most. They look forward to enlightening and enriching their students with their newfound knowledge of Korea.
