Choi Jin Young, an avid volunteer at Shinmyung orphanage in Pupyeong, Incheon to Chiangmai, has dedicated much of her time, on top of a full-time job, to give 9 children the opportunity to travel to visit the hill tribes of Chiang Mai, refugees from Thailand's neighboring countries.
The children intend to perform traditional Korean dances and to share their knowledge of Korean culture to the Hill Tribes and through their efforts, she hopes they will learn the joy of giving. They have raised about 80% of their travel expenses but are still in need of about $1500 to make the trip.
Choi has found fundraising difficult in Korea as most of the donations and supporters have been foreigners. She hopes to create more opportunities for Koreans to give money towards a good cause.
