Second Moon is an ethnic fusion band that has been performing for more than a decade now. Second Moon was formed by commercial and film music producers Kim Hyun-bo and Park Jin-woo. The band got its start from their wish of playing the music they wanted. In order to broaden the scope of musical instruments they’re proficient in, the members bought folk instruments from various countries, studied how to play them on their own watching YouTube, and write music. To Second Moon music was an object of affection, not a means to economic gains. Learning to play new instruments, writing music, performing and shaping the band’s identity was more precious and interesting than making money. Its members want Second Moon to be called a band that grows and transforms every day, making new kinds of music from various folk musical traditions around the world. This is why even Second Band itself can’t be sure what their next music will be like. And this is why we look forward to Second Moon’s next music piece.
