S. Korea to Maintain LTV, DTI Ratios

Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho says mortgage lending rules in South Korea will remain unchanged for now.

He told lawmakers Monday the government will not raise the loan-to-value(LTV) ratio and the debt-to-income ratio(DTI).

Yoo said the government is still considering the possibility of drawing up a supplementary budget based on careful monitoring of first quarter economic indicators.

He said the possibility of the United States labeling South Korea a currency manipulator remains low for now, but cannot be completely ruled out.

On speculation that the U.S. may request renegotiation of a bilateral free trade agreement on the fifth anniversary of the pact, Yoo said there is no word yet from Washington, but that too cannot be ruled out. The South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement went into effect on March 15th, 2012.
