Europe to Adopt Sex Slavery Resolution

The European Parliament is likely to adopt a resolution urging Japan to formally apologize and compensate women it forced into sex slavery during World War Two.

The EU's top lawmaking body will hold discussions and vote on the resolution at a plenary session on Thursday to be held in Strasbourg, France.

Sources said the resolution would urge Tokyo to formally acknowledge its wartime atrocities, having forced over 200-thousand Asian women into sexual slavery.

Also, it would demand that Japan accurately record the facts in its history textbooks.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a similar resolution in July. Recently, the lower house of the Dutch Parliament and the Canadian Parliament also passed motions urging the Japanese government to apologize and compensate victims of its military sexual slavery.
