China’s Peking University has announced that Korean language studies will now be offered as a course of its own.

Seoul’s embassy to Beijing said that, starting this spring semester, the Korean language part of the university's East Asian language studies program will become an independent class.

Korean is the only language course to be promoted this semester and the second independent course among Asian languages, following Japanese.
