'US Has Means to Meet Missile Threat'

The commander of the U.S. Northern Command has expressed confidence in the U.S. military’s capability to intercept any ballistic missile launched by North Korea.

General Victor Renuart told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that if the North were to shoot a ballistic missile at the U.S. today, he believes that the U.S. would be able to respond effectively in terms of intercepting.

Renuart, who is also the chief of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, added that the U.S. currently views North Korea as “a very limited threat.” He said the U.S. missile defense system is focused on the North’s missile capabilities.
