US NGOs Ordered to Leave N.Korea

North Korea has reportedly ordered U.S. nongovernmental organizations to leave the country in line with its decision to reject U.S. food aid.

Spokeswoman Joy Portella of the international aid group Mercy Corps said Tuesday that Pyongyang ordered her group and four other NGOs to leave the North by the end of this month. She said that no reasons were given for the North’s decision.

Portella said Mercy Corps, World Vision, Global Resource Services, Samaritan's Purse and Christian Friends of Korea have brought about 70-thousand metric tons of food into North Korea and distributed about 50-thousand tons of it.
