OECD To Participate in 2010 Yeosu World Expo

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) says it will take part in the 2012 World Expo in the South Korean city of Yeosu.

According to Yeosu World Expo’s organizing committee Monday, the OECD sent a letter to South Korea’s ambassador to the organization, Kim Joong-soo, to convey its decision to attend the event. In the letter, the OECD also vowed to fully support efforts for Yeosu’s successful hosting.

OECD is the first international organization to commit to the Yeosu World Expo.

Meanwhile, as of the end of January, five nations have confirmed plans to participate in the event, including Saudi Arabia, Japan, Turkey, Ukraine and Libya.

Yeosu, on South Korea's southern coast, will host a three-month specialized World Expo in 2012 under the theme "The Living Ocean and Coast."
