A delegation of European Union (EU) officials that recently visited North Korea says it warned Pyongyang that it would be violating a U.N. resolution if it launches an experimental satellite.
The government of Czech Republic, which currently mans the rotating EU presidency, said Wednesday that the EU delegation issued the warning when it made a three-day visit to Pyongyang last Saturday.
The Czech government said the delegation stressed to North Korean officials that the North’s plans to send a satellite into orbit could send the wrong signals to the international community.
According to the Czech government, the EU and North Korean officials discussed bilateral relations, human rights and North Korea’s social and economic conditions.
During their talks, the EU delegation also sought to confirm whether the North is willing to continue modernizing its social and economic systems and if so, vowed to provide support for such efforts.
