Poll: Korean Students Anxious about Future

A survey finds that South Korean high school students are more worried about their future than their peers in the United States, China and Japan.

The China Youth and Children Research Center in Beijing and similar civic groups in the other countries conducted a joint poll on some four-thousand high school students last September and October.

According to the survey results, only 20 percent of South Korean students answered that they are not worried about their future, compared with 41 percent of students in China, 37 percent in the U.S., and 21 percent in Japan.

The survey showed Japanese students demonstrated the lowest level of self-confidence and felt their study burdens were the worst. Chinese students were found to have spent the most time studying.
