The Yemeni government has detained six suspects who were allegedly behind a suicide bombing that killed four South Korean tourists on March 15th.
Yemen’s Interior Ministry said in a statement posted on its Web site Wednesday that it had arrested six out of 12 suspected members of an al-Qaeda terror cell on charges of plotting the bomb attack in the ancient city of Shibam.
The six detainees are also suspected of having plans to attack a dozen other targets including oil installations and foreign tourists. Security forces are continuing with their efforts to track down the other members of the cell.
The ministry disclosed the photographs of the 12 suspects and, last week, began offering rewards for information leading to their arrest.
According to AFP, the suspects were also allegedly behind an attack against South Korean government officials and family members of the suicide bombing victims that occurred three days after the initial bombing.
