Top nuclear envoys of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan will meet in Washington Saturday to discuss North Korea’s planned rocket launch.

The State Department said Thursday that Korea’s Wi Sung-lak and Japan’s Akitaka Saiki will hold separate meetings with U.S. special envoy on North Korea Stephen Bosworth and chief U.S. delegate to the six-party talks Sung Kim to discuss how best to respond to the North’s rocket launch planned for between April fourth and eighth.

The nuclear negotiators of the three countries are likely to agree to implement active diplomatic efforts to block the North from launching a rocket and to seek U.N. sanctions if Pyongyang does go ahead with the launch.

Wi is South Korea’s chief delegate to the six-way nuclear talks. He is scheduled to arrive in Washington on Saturday.
