Japan Completes Deployment of Patriot Missiles

Japan is stepping up its preparations for a North Korean rocket launch that is reportedly set to come soon.

The National Diet of Japan on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution urging North Korea to refrain from firing rockets. Japan’s Defense Ministry, meanwhile, completed deploying its ground-based Patriot missiles as part of interception efforts.

Currently, Patriot guided-missile units deployed to northern prefectures of Akita and Iwate are on high alert.

Provincial governments are conducting emergency drills to minimize damage in the event a North Korean rocket falls on Japanese territory.
