Clinton: US Hopes to Resume Talks with NK

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she hopes to resume talks with North Korea to resolve the North’s nuclear program.

She made a surprise visit to Baghdad, Iraq, Saturday. She said Washington will continue to press Pyongyang to assume its responsibility for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula in cooperation with other countries participating in the six-way talks.

Clinton said she hopes the six parties can resume discussion with Pyongyang on denuclearization.

State Department spokeswoman Megan Mattson also said the U.S. remains committed to the six-party dialogue's goal of complete and verifiable denuclearization of the peninsula in a peaceful manner through the talks.
