Foreign Media Cover Prosecutors' Summoning of Roh

Leading foreign media are covering Korean prosecutors’ plan to question former President Roh Moo-hyun over his alleged role in a bribery scandal.

The Associated Press (AP) said Korean prosecutors plan to summon the former president this week for questioning over suspicions that his family accepted six million U.S. dollars from a detained businessman when Roh served as president between 2003 and 2008.

AP said the recent scandal is a major blow for the ex-president, a former human rights lawyer and liberal politician who took office in 2003 as a reformist with a clean image.

Meanwhile, AFP said Roh has apologized for his family's links to the case, but has denied his own involvement.

The report added that Roh complained last week that his retirement home on the southwest coast had been turned into "a prison" after reporters probing the scandal besieged the property.
