South Korean companies operating in Silicon Valley have launched emergency measures against swine flu, following a case of the disease being reported in the region.

The Silicon Valley branches of South Korean companies --- including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hynix and POSCO --- have banned their employees from making trips to Mexico.

Some of the companies have set up new emergency phone contact systems.

The Silicon Valley office of the state-run Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) will run an anti-swine flu task force to monitor the disease's impact on South Korean companies in the area.
