Japan May Accept NK-U.S. Direct Talks

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso told U.S. President Barack Obama that Japan would not object to possible U.S.-North Korea talks.

Diplomatic sources in Tokyo and Washington say that in a phone conversation on April 24th, Aso told Obama that Japan was not against talks between North Korea and the U.S. as long as they were to convince North Korea to resume the six-party negotiations.

Meanwhile, U.S. special envoy on North Korea Stephen Bosworth is expected to visit countries participating in the multilateral nuclear talks this week.
