The World Health Organization (WHO) may raise its pandemic alert level to the top of its six-level scale as the number of confirmed cases of the type-A influenza continues to rise.

Japanese broadcaster NHK reported Wednesday that the WHO has started looking into raising its alert level from the current five to six as the number of human-to-human infections is increasing in Europe, especially in Spain and England.

The WHO has reported one-thousand-490 confirmed cases of the type-A flu including 30 deaths.
