Clinton Has No Plans to Visit NK

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she has no plans to visit North Korea.

Clinton made the comment after being asked during a joint news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Washington on Friday if she has plans to visit Pyongyang in a bid to ease mounting tensions and to break a deadlock in resolving the North’s nuclear issue.

Clinton said, however, that U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Bosworth is making rounds in the Northeast Asian region to discuss the situation.

Meanwhile, Clinton said she shares Lavrov’s view that efforts to convince the North to return to the bargaining table must continue.

Lavrov met with officials in North Korea late last month to discuss the nuclear issue.
