Clinton Welcomes NK Trial Date for US Journalists

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has welcomed a decision by North Korea to set a trial date for two U.S. journalists arrested in March.

Clinton told reporters in Washington on Friday that the fact that Pyongyang is taking action on the issue is a signal that there may be a resolution to the problem.

Clinton also said the U.S. intends to keep the door open to North Korea in regards to finding a solution to the resumption of the stalled six-party nuclear talks. She added that the ball is in the North’s court.

Clinton stressed that the U.S. will not chase after North Korea or offer any concessions as ways of bringing the communist state back to the talks.

Clinton’s remarks come as an Iranian-American journalist who was sentenced to eight years in prison by Iran on spying charges was freed earlier on Monday.
