US to Review Putting NK Back on Terrorism List

The United States says it is looking at a wide range of options to address North Korea’s second nuclear test.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Tuesday that the U.S. is reviewing not just multilateral options, but also appropriate national measures, to prevent North Korea from proliferating the nuclear technology it already has.

Asked about the possibility of putting the North back on the U.S. list of terrorism-sponsoring nations, Kelly refused to go into detail and only said the possibility would have to be the subject of a review.

Meanwhile, an official at the U.S. Department of Treasury said the department is considering imposing further financial sanctions on the North.

The official added that North Korea ultimately limited its access to the global financial system by carrying out another nuclear test.
