Foreign News Outlets Report on Roh's Funeral

A number of foreign news outlets have reported on the government-organized funeral service for the late former President Roh Moo-hyun held on Friday morning.

CNN reported live on the scenes near and at Gyeongbok Palace, where the funeral service took place. The broadcaster also carried images of citizens gathered at Seoul Plaza, where a memorial service for the late president is being held.

BBC reported that millions of people paid their condolences at memorial altars set up throughout South Korea. The British broadcaster also quoted some South Koreans as saying they believe the investigation into the late former president’s involvement in a bribery scandal was politically motivated.

The Associated Press carried a number of images from the funeral, reporting that citizens watched the service on large monitors as riot police guarded against any protests.
