The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing next Thursday to discuss North Korea’s recent nuclear test and the communist state’s preparations to launch another missile.
The hearing will be attended by experts on Korean affairs, including special envoy on North Korea Stephen Bosworth.
In addition to talks of the North’s recent provocations, the senators are likely to discuss the status of the six-way nuclear talks, the future direction of policies on North Korea, the results of a U.S. delegation’s visit to South Korea, China and Japan, and the leadership succession situation in North Korea.
In response to a request made by a number of Republican senators, discussions on whether to put the North back on the U.S. list of terror-sponsoring nations are also expected to take place at the hearing.
