American Detainees’ Health Worsening

American journalists detained in North Korea are reportedly suffering from deteriorating health.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee, reporters for San Francisco-based Current TV, were detained by North Korea on March 17th while filming a documentary along the North's border with China.

According to Voice of America, Lee and Ling said in a phone call with their family on June 21st that they are experiencing health problems and have been moved to a medical facility.

Ling’s husband said his wife sounded scared, but she described the situation as “bearable.”

The two women were sentenced to 12 years in prison by the North's highest court earlier this month.
