Myanmar Not to Allow in NK Ship

The government of Myanmar will reportedly refuse to allow into its waters a North Korean vessel suspected by the United States of carrying illicit weapons.

Quoting a Myanmar government official, Washington-based Radio Free Asia said that Myanmar notified North Korea of its decision.

The official alerted the North Korean ambassador to Myanmar last week of its plan to search the North Korean ship in its waters if necessary.

Myanmar clarified that the search will be conducted only when it concludes the action is absolutely necessary.

The two-thousand-ton North Korean vessel is suspected of transporting weapons materials in violation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874, which was passed on June 12th.
